Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a long-standing tradition in Mexico and other parts of Latin America that was popularized in the US by the Chicano Movement in the 1970s and 1980s. Far from a spooky or scary holiday, Día de los Muertos is dedicated to remembering and honoring the lives of deceased loved ones and often celebrated with humor, positivity, and respect.
The weather was lovely for this Arts Market sponsored by the Chapel Hill Community Arts & Culture, a division of the Town of Chapel Hill.
