September is a very special month for Brazilian immigrants living in the United States. It is a time to sing, dance, meet friends, and celebrate life as an immigrant. Aligned with the festivities for the Brazilian independence, September is the month in which the cities with large Brazilian population commemorate the Brazilian Day.
On September 15th, 2018 Batalá Durham presents the first annual Brazilian Day NC Festival in Durham Central Park. Durham has never hosted a Brazilian Day festival and we’re about to change that, and get the Triangle celebrating Brazilian arts, music, and culture. We’ll have musical performances, dance workshops and performances, capoeira workshops and roda, beer from Fullsteam and Ponysaurus, food trucks, Brazilian food vendors, a raffle with tons of great prizes from local donors (see Schedule page for details), and Brazilian music being spun all day from DJ Chris Brazil.
